In Matthew’s Gospel, a young leader comes to Jesus and asks: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:36-40).

Yes, Jesus commanded his followers to love God and love their neighbours. Why? Because, “All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments.”

That about sums up why we meet together in groups: to study the Bible together so we can learn what it means to love God and to love each other.

Each week, friends from Christ Church Lavender Bay gather in one another’s homes or in the church to explore, learn and consider a variety of passages in God’s word. Then we ask God to help us discern their application for our lives in contemporary society.

By meeting together, we’re being formed more into Christ’s likeness. We grow in our fellowship with one another as we seek to serve our communities, city and workplaces. And groups provide a safe place to share concerns and pray for one another with confidences kept.

We have a variety of groups in and around the North Sydney area. Bible study groups invite us to grow together as we discover the greatness of God’s love and word. Everyone is welcome!
